Shelby is a 10 year old Welsh Corgi Mix who is independent but likes her cuddle time, too! Shelby was turned into Maricopa County Animal Care & Control as a stray and was placed on the euthanasia list for being fearful. We were shocked to see nobody stepping up for this sweet old gal. An adopter was lined up to rescue her but never showed up, so we rescued her. She was infested in ticks and was in desperate need of a bath. Through all of our poking and prodding, she sweetly wagged her tail and patiently let us work on her. Shelby is a very nice and mellow older gal that isn't interested in a bunch of hub-bub and likes to do her thing. But ... (Read More)when she decides it's cuddle time, she will happily crawl up on your lap and indulge in lovins! Shelby is fine with animals that match her mellow personality. She walks perfectly on a leash and is potty trained. Shelby would do best with older, calm children. Shelby is spayed, current on Rabies, 4-1, and Bordatella vaccines, and is microchipped. Her adoption fee is $100. (Less)

Pennie came to us through Pinal County, along with her sister Wendy. ... (Read More)Both were surrendered by the family who were moving to an apartment and couldn't take them. She is 5 years old and current on shots, spay and micro-chipped. She is nervous when she 1st meets you but she will warm up after a bit. She likes other dogs after being introduced and she's housetrained. The family that had her also had a young boy and she was fine with him. She has the long dachshund / Corgi body & back and shorter legs. She goes potty outside and does wonderful with her foster family, their friends and the families 2 dogs. Her adoption fee is set at $200.00 IF Interested in her, Go to the ADOPT tab, and click on Dog Interest Form on our website at www.azrain.org. THANKS FOR WANTING TO RESCUE YOUR NEXT FAMILY MEMBER!! Do you see me? If so, my forever home has NOT been chosen yet. The only way to have a chance at me is to get your application in at www.azrain.org Please don't call to ask if this dog/puppy is still available. We remove them with in 24 hours of adoption, besides, you know you will find another one and your application will be good for 90 days for any of our dogs/puppies at R.A.I.N. Rescue! The 1st step to adopting any of our dogs is to fill out an application by going to our website. www.azrain.org. Click on forms tab, then DOG INTEREST FORM. Your application stays on file with us for 90 days, in the event you are not chosen to adopt the dog you filled out the application for. Please don't email us, if you haven't filled out an application 1st. We do not bring our small dogs to adoption events, because #1) they are normally scared to death and very nervous, not knowing what's going on with the many people coming up to the pens and hovering over them. Many shiver and shake with the unknown. #2) People adopt on impulse when they see a particularly "cute" dog/puppy. When they are adopted on impulse, reality sets in with in the 1st month of adopting it...Oh, this puppy ate the leg off my chair, I can't have that!.., or ...You said this dog was house trained and it pees all over... and then in many cases they are returned to rescue. #3) When people have to fill out a form 1st, and read all the questions about the care of a dog/puppy, they see that there are many aspects to adopting a family member, that they may not of thought of. They also realize that it is a life time commitment. The application Is done prior to adopting, so the family understands the seriousness and responsibilities of ownership. We have applications available at 2840 W Chandler Blvd. (At Petsmart, in the Lowes shopping center). It is located at the 101 and chandler blvd. OR, you can go to our website and get one, then email back to us at info@azrain.org OR, hand deliver it to us on Saturdays at our Donation Table we have set up, right of the front door of Petsmart. Volunteers run the table every Saturday from 10am-2pm. They will make sure it gets to the correct Dept. Many Thanks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are a 501c3 non profit Rescue. R.A.I.N. Rescue (Rescuing Animals in Need). ** ALL OF OUR PETS ARE: micro-chipped, (cats are feline Leukemia tested), up to date on immunization shots, spayed/neutered and dogs are current on Rabies shot.. The dogs/puppies are taken off the website with in 48 hrs of being adopted, SO if you see one that interests you, plz fill out an application. IN THE EVENT you do not get the dog or cat that you are applying for, your application will stay on file for 3 months. If you find another pet with RAIN Rescue that you are interested in, (within the 3 month period), just call or email us and tell us the name of the pet and that you have previously filled out a INTEREST form, and which one you are currently interested in. We will pull your application for the specific dog. ** Just a reminder: we are all volunteers...we all have jobs outside from our volunteer job at the Rescue. We are sorry that we will not make a special time and place to meet you without a consultation application done up. We are able to weed through many applications with out taking too much time. Meeting up prior to an application being done has been found to be unproductive, taking much time for all the volunteers involved, and YOUR time too! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-17-00317Molly-loving lap dog (female)

Corgi Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Come meet Molly and her friends this Saturday 9/3 at the Lake Pleasant Petsmart from 1030-330!!! 25372 N Lake Pleasant, Peoria, AZ 85383 Phone:(623) 362-8067 Molly is a 3-4 yr old mix of some sort who has had a REALLY rough life so far. She was found with three other dogs, believed to be related to her, living near a dumpster. They were all riddled with mange and skin infections. Molly has clearly had MANY litters, and was taking very good care of the other three dogs. She was the one jumping in the trash, digging and searching for food--and bringing it back to the others. She is very motherly. They were all TERRIFIED when turned in ... (Read More)to the shelter. She has adjusted well to life in a home, however she still likes to dumpster dive--understandable considering that's how she got her meals previously. She is crate trained--she doesn't like it--but knows that if she does not chew on things, dig in the trash, or pee in the house--then she gets free roam. She's learning! She has a FABULOUS temperament, even good with kids. (however--she will chew their toys) She just needs a loving home with structure, and a routine--then she will do just fine. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm negative. She did test positive for erlichia (tick fever) but has completed her round of doxycylline. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Corgi in Arizona
Corgi Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.
