Corgi Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sammie was rescued by a good samaritan a month ago after being loose on the streets of Inglewood for about the same time. He was covered in tar, grease and dirty, full of fleas and all matted. He went to the vet and groomer and is current on his shots. Because he was so matted, his coat has been clipped but he has and will have a full coat being mixed with American Eskimo. He is 20 lbs. He is a bit fearful at first when meeting new people but once he knows you he is sweet and the same applies to new dogs. He is not cat friendly. He would do best in an adult home or one with older teenage child and someone who has a corgi or herding ... (Read More)dog background and is dog savvy. He has collie nose which means he needs to have sun screen applied and he be on some meds to help that as well. He will be micro chipped and adoption process applies. He is in a foster home in our rescue as of 8/30/15 and house training is quite good but we will use the crate/house training method to re-enforce that. (Less)

Corgi Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Biscuit loves to be picked up, petted, and snuggled. He's around two years old and has had a bit of a traumatic past, so he gets slightly nervous on walks and around cars/traffic. A peaceful home with loving and patient owners would be best, a place with a safe little yard would be ideal. As a Corgi/Chihuahua mix, so he's the perfect balance of cute and round.     Bowie is a 1.5 year old Shepherd/Husky/Bassett Mix. He was found on the streets in Perris. He had no chip, and no owners ever came forward for him. We had this sweet boy fully vetted. He is spring loaded, he can jump from a sit down position about 4 feet in the air, its like he has springs in his legs, he is a sweet boy, a little timid at first until he understands you mean no harm. He loves to fetch toys, but is awful at bringing them back. He isn't a barker. He is housebroken and crate trained. He was found thrown out in a tightly taped up box at a gas station. If that wasn't bad enough, he then sat at the shelter for a month waiting for someone to save him and no one came. It was in the 11th hour that our rescue saw his story and said there is no way that poor dog is going through being saved from that and then being killed in the shelter. He is SOOOOO sweet!     [Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Call owner direct ay 619-455-9385. Hi there! I have a 5 year old female Pembroke Welsh Corgi (named Miki) that needs to be re-homed ASAP. In April, Miki suffered a slipped disc in her spine which led her unable to use her hind legs. She underwent surgery immediately ($4000 surgery) to better her chances of regaining sensation in her back legs... it is a long process to recovery. Miki currently sees a veterinarian located in Stockton, CA who sees her every other month to check with her progression... he approximates that if she were to have any improvement with her back legs, that it would take a minimum ... (Read More)of 6 months (It has been 4 now). Her visits are free of charge. She is very loving, and friendly. She may be shy at first with strangers, but overall is a friendly and pleasant pup. Miki may be unable to use her back legs, but she gets around just fine! She can scoot around. I had a specialty dog cart (Dog wheelchair) made for her and also, I have a red wagon she loves to be in when we go out. The reason she needs to be re-homed is that my work schedule does not allow me to care for her the way she needs. With her paralysis, she needs more care than I can give at the moment. Miki can no longer control her bladder/bowels. She would need to be expressed manually three times a day. Unfortunately, work keeps me busy that I am unable to run home during mid-day to express her bladder. If anyone out there is willing to take her in, please please do not hesitate to contact me. She is a great pet! She will come along with her wheelchair, food/water bowls, leash, red wagon. (Less)

Animal ID: A4853535Dorian (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dorian is a jubilant 9 year old brown and cream neutered male Chihuahua and Corgi mix who was found cruelly taped inside of a box and tossed at the back of a gas station in West Covina when found by a good samaritan and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on July 8th. Weighing 15 lbs, Dorian has a few medical problems that need to be seen by an outside veterinarian. He had a mass on his chest that has been removed and stitched up, so aftercare should be a consideration. He is also a geriatric senior. Because of his medical status, he will need to be adopted with a health waiver, which basically means that the adopter has to ... (Read More)promise to take Dorian to a vet right away (which is a good idea for any new furry addition to a household!). Regardless of these issues, Dorian remains a happy pup! He walks well on leash and really enjoys butt scratches. In fact, his favorite thing is receiving any kind of attention, and he would prefer to be the only pet in a household so he can soak up all the attention for himself. Dorian also shows signs of being housebroken. We think Dorian will make an amazing indoor companion for anyone or any family in any living situation who sees the beauty in giving him the life he should have from here on out. And their reward will be that smile Dorian does so well - the one that comes straight from his heart! For more information about Dorian, or to Adopt, Foster or Rescue, please call the shelter at (626) 962-3577 and reference Animal ID #A4853535, or better yet, come on by the shelter for a meet and greet!     Adoption placement in Southern CA only. Cody will be avl for adoption after July 4th. Cody was an owner surrender to another rescue colleague who called my rescue and I in turn accepted him into corgi rescue. He was severely neglected with an extremely dry hair coat, weepy left eye and terrible teeth. He just had his dental on 6/12 and had 27 teeth extracted with 8 remaining. His hair coat is much better now and he loves being combed/brushed. He is 21 lbs so quite petite. He is 10 years young, walks nicely on a leash and crate and house training are in process. Corgi    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Springsteen needs a specific type of adoptive home. He needs a quiet, low traffic home with a nice sized block or wood fencing and a doggie door for access to the backyard. He needs a home with a very seasoned herding or corgi savvy adopter. He is very loving with the right person and seems to prefer a female owner but a gentle couple would not be ruled out. He has a trigger for outside stimuli that sets him off more in a scared, reactive mode then aggressive. He gently takes treats from your hand and is not food aggressive. He enjoys toys and loves being brushed gently and petted. He rolls over for bellyrubs but would never be a ... (Read More)candidate for a dog park, dog beach or dog gathering. He needs to be more solitary in his outdoor activities and would work best in a neighborhood without a lot of children. He knows basic commands but needs those expanded and needs leash work. He is good at the groomer's and rides nicely in a car. He is crate trained and reliably housetrained. His adopter would need to be in southern CA and agree to financially be able to employ an in home dog trainer/behaviorist from the onset. Springsteen does have herding instinct so later when he's more acclimated that would be a fun pursuit for the adopter. Adoption process applies: completion of a pre adopt ap, hmck, trial period, adoption contract and adoption donation of $350. (Less)

W have a beautiful dog, who has been in our lives for 5 years. Having recently lost our dog of 15.5 years, we adopted Cali from the SPCA as she charmed us with her exuberance and interaction. And she was beautiful - a cross between a cattle dog and a corgi, long legs, alert eyes and ears, bushy tail and a spotted red and white coat. She made friends with the neighbor dogs - there is even a video on youtube of her playing tether ball with her friend Poppy. She had a yard to play in, a 'puppy empowerment portal' (doggie door) to get there, trails to hike nearby and clean streets to walk on leash. We have divorced - very amicably - and ... (Read More)have just sold our house and will be moving out in May. We had a friend who had just lost his dog and he graciously took Cali in while we prepped the house. And he fell in love with her. But he lives in the city - in a not so clean section of Oakland. Now, when Cali walks, she is fixated on finding scraps of food on the route. Nearby parks are littered with chicken bones, so rather than playing, she spends her time hunting bones. His house has a studio downstairs where people often come to play music. Her protective nature gets the better of her and she has to spend a lot of time upstairs, cut off from the action downstairs. My ex and I will also be moving to the city. The three of us have done a lot of soul searching and have come to the conclusion that we cannot keep Cali. It is simply not fair to her. She deserves to be in an area where she can run and play and not be distracted by junk on the sidewalk or in the park grass. She is too smart and energetic to be kept cooped up. Cali's good traits: She is beautiful. Folks always say she looks like a fox. She is loyal. She loves the people she knows and follows us all around. She is good on trails and doesn't run off. She is good with other dogs at the beach, on trails, at doggy day care when she goes. She is SMART! One can actually see the wheels turn in her head. She learns tricks in about 30 minutes. She had an opportunity to try out an agility course and mastered 3 activities in an hour! The trainer was impressed. She is active. She loves hiking, the beach, playing ball, and playing tetherball. She LOVES being chased with a toy in her mouth, by dogs or by people. She is protective of her peeps and her territory (the house, yard and car). She is incredibly exuberant when you come home and loves to lick you. No dog is perfect and Cali is no exception. Her protective nature can get the best of her. Once she becomes used to a place (3-6 months), she believes it is her job to protect it from visitors and other dogs. Once she becomes used to someone - usually because they work with her by feeding her and walking her - they are welcomed into the pack. A home with constant coming and going of people for rehearsal is not for her. She gets along well with other dogs on neutral territory and on their turf. She doesn't like them inside her home, although she has friends she doesn't mind hanging with in her yard. She is SUPER SMART! She learns things quickly. With that smartness comes a bit of wllfulness and mischievousness - but that happens when she is bored. When she is bored, she plays games to alleviate that boredom - such as learning how to open trash cans and spilling the contents on the kitchen floor. Or opening the tall cabinet and removing key food items: loaves of bread, a bag of flour, a box of rice. Sometimes she eats these, other times, she just moves them to other areas so that you know she was there. Cali needs a real job. She needs space to be active. She needs to be mentally challenged. She wants nothing more than to please and can be such a very loving dog. She needs an assertive pack, as she is most at ease when there is structure. We are looking for the right person or persons and the right environment for her (Less)

Attention! MINION Here! I am 2 year old, male, neutered, microchipped Corgi / Pug Mix looking for my forever home. I was rescued because my previous owner could not keep me and I was about going to the shelter. Since then I live in loving foster care. I am good with most dogs, adults and children (best match school-aged) . I am not good with cats - call it a love/hate relationship - therefore my family to adopt should have no cats. I want to add :) I have ... (Read More)the cutest underbite you will find under the sun and it makes me more unique as I am already. The dogs are evaluated at time of rescue for breed, age etc. at best guess. We always try to answer calls/emails in a timely manner. Please allow a time window of 48 hours to return/answer to your inquiry. We do NOT ship dogs. Out of state adopters can fly in to meet and adopt our dogs, when adopting the dog MUST fly IN CABIN home with you.     Wellington's(Wellie's) age is unknown and is approximated at 6-8 years. I adopted Wellie in 2012 from the local animal shelter. He likes to go for walks and when handled firmly is easily controlled around other dogs. He likes to play fetch until he tires out and loves squeaky toys. Wellie is completely house broken and has never destroyed personal property. Overall he would be a great dog in a quiet, loving, single pet environment. Wellie was very fearful and aggressive when I first brought him home but quickly became friendly and comfortable as he realized we meant him no harm. He was an owner surrender and I believe he was severely ... (Read More)neglected as he was full of foxtails. Possibly abused because he flinches and runs when you move to quickly toward him. Although Wellie never warmed up to my old dog who passed 2 years ago, I have tried to give him a home. But, I am a multi dog, multi animal person and have made up my mind that Wellie is just not a good fit for my household. He is dog and small animal aggressive, having killed one of my parrots, a bullfrog and attacked and bit my friends visiting rottweiler! He constantly tries to get at my other birds and pet chicken. Last year I received a great dane puppy as a gift and Wellie has been very aggressive and impatient with him. Since I do not want my now 125 lb 'puppy' to become aggressive and/or turn on him, I have decided to re-home him in a single pet, adult only home where he would be less stressed and much happier. PIease Read Before Adopting a Corgi in California
Corgi Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.
