Meet Freckles a Corgi Terrier Mix who doesn't know she is a dog. She's been treated like a princess since she was just 9 months old and acts more human than canine. Freckles is now 7 years old having been rescued at 9 months old from the shelter. For the first 9 months of Freckles little life, she was severely neglected. She had no idea how to play, how to interact with other dogs or even humans. She had to learn everything with fresh eyes. Her loving family has taken great care of her, patiently teaching her how to play, to perform basic commands and to interact with other animals and people. They have invested in training and caring ... (Read More)for her as part of their family. She goes on her daily walks which she loves and attends Doggy Day Care. She is very loyal, affectionate and loving. She loves to play tug of war with her toys, especially her stuffed toy animals. Freckles loves to watch TV and is fascinated with the nature channel. Freckles has been to playgroup and gets along well with other dogs. She has a bit of an 'Alpha' personality, and can try to get her own way, but responds well to discipline She is needing to be rehomed because her family had to move and has new strenuous work hours which leaves Freckles alone for many hours a day. They feel they cannot take care of her the way she deserves and want to see her live out her years in a loving and committed home. They are devastated to have to make this decision but feel that it is in her best interest. Her current family want her to be with a loving and caring family or individual who can spend the time with her that she deserves. She will give back more love than you could ever imagine. (Less)

Corgi    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Springles is a 6 year old neutered, purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He is current on his shots and microchipped. He is crate and housetrained and is treat motivated. He knows a couple of basic commands but needs behavioral training as he has a reactive behavior due to a fearful nature when in unfamiliar or threatening situations. He walks nicely on a leash and travels well in a car. He is very relaxed with his foster mom and loves to be brushed. He is a 'verbal dog', not barking but actually gives low vocal sounds. He talks to his foster mom. He weighs about 28 lbs. He has a bite history so needs someone who can afford an in house dog ... (Read More)behaviorist to work with recognizing his triggers. Placement limited to southern and central CA. He would be ideal for a very corgi savvy, hands on adopter who is mature and has no other pets. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-16-00290Paco Bell (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind, Deaf

Paco Bell was abandoned by his owners when they moved away and left him behind. Paco Bell appears to be a Jack Russell Terrier or Corgi/Chihuahua Mix. His short coat is mostly white with tan patches and his tail curls over his back. His estimated date of birth is 12/13/06. He weighs approximately 11 pounds. Paco Bell had his teeth cleaned and anal glands expressed. He has cataracts in both eyes and appears to be blind. Also appears to be deaf, but otherwise is healthy, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. He is not comfortable with strangers and will take some time to warm up to you. But when he knows and trusts you, he likes to ... (Read More)be held and petted. Even though Paco Bell is special needs, he is no trouble and will learn his way around including going outside to go potty. Paco Bell is looking for a quiet home with his own person to love and be a companion to. $50 adoption fee, cash only, which is to help reimburse for a portion of expenses of dog rescue and rehabilitation. Local adoptions only; within 75 mile radius because we deliver animal to its new home to do a home/yard check. Our adoption process involves meeting the animal, either at Petco in Menifee on Saturdays from 10-2 or by appointment on other days at the rescue in Quail Valley. We have the best interest of the animal in mind and our goal is to find a good, permanent home for each of our rescued animals. We have the right to decline an application if we feel it is not a good match or fit for the animal. If you like the animal and we both feel it is a good match, an application and adoption contract is completed. A convenient day/time is arranged for us to deliver the animal to its new home to do a home check (to make sure the home is safe and secure). We will collect the adoption fee (cash only) when we deliver the animal to its new home. All our adoptions are on a trial basis because our goal is to have a successful adoption where the animal has a good permanent home and never ends up in a bad situation again. We ask that you give the animal a chance to adjust and settle in his new home and environment. Going to a new home with new people and a new environment is traumatic and stressful. It will take time for the animal to become comfortable around you and his/her new home. This should be a bonding period where you get to know the animal and connect with it, spend time with it and take things slow. He/she will need to get to know and trust you and learn the rules of the house and what is expected of him/her. This takes time, sometimes 2-3 weeks. During this time we will hold the adoption fee and if the adoption is not working out, we ask that you contact us and return the animal and we will refund your adoption fee. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Corgi in California
Corgi Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.
