Rescue Me ID: 17-09-17-00157Bella (female)

Corgi Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bellisima Bella is here at ACL with bells on - she's on the hunt for the perfect home! Bella is a 4 year old Corgi/Chihuahua mix who arrived at ACL from an overburdened Chicago shelter. Bella had a wonderful advocate in the form of two dedicated volunteers at the Chicago shelter who saw her potential and knew ACL could find her a perfect home. Bella has been living happily in foster care, and she's a dream. She's great with other dogs - she tends to coexist more than interact, so she's a good option for a dog who shares that attitude. Bella is good with cats, but she can be a little too fixated by them - she doesn't attack them; she just ... (Read More)stares at them. For a dog-savvy cat, this may not be a problem, but she is not a good option for a cat who has never met a dog before. Bella is a very affectionate, very emotional dog who loves to be with her people, by her people, and on her people at all times! She's housetrained and well-behaved. She would do great in a home with lots of attention, fun exercise, and cuddles cuddles cuddles! Bella prefers kids 8 and up. Email Gabrielle at caninemanager@animalcareleague.org for more info on meeting her! (Less)

Manny is a handsome and personable, three-year-old, 15-pound, male black and tan Min Pin/Corgi-mix looking for a loving guardian. Manny was relinquished to Chicago Animal Care & Control. Luckily he was pulled by Famous Fido's and he is now in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. Volunteers have noted how sweet he is rolling on his back for belly rubs with his favorite people.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Corgi in Illinois
Corgi Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.
