Rescue Me ID: 17-01-12-00273Bindi (female)

Corgi Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bindi is hopefully coming to the Washington, DC area in late January from Japan. We have a flight arranged on January 20th but things can happen to derail this flight (always can be issues on overseas flights) so we will cross our fingers and hope that all goes smoothly. Ruby is a 5 month old, small sized Terrier mix (we think she may also have some Corgi in her), 14 pound range. She should top out in the 20 to 25 pound range full grown. Bindi is a very friendly girl and is a typical puppy full of energy. She is just starting to work on potty and crate training, obedience training and leash training and will need more work with ... (Read More)everything. Bindi needs to go to a home where someone is around a fair bit, with older children (6+) and probably would do best with another dog in the house as she has never been alone. She was rescued with two siblings from a high kill facility in Okinawa Japan. Bindi will be fully vetted (vaccination, micro-chip, spay) before she goes to her new home and she is heart worm negative and on monthly preventatives. If you are interested in meeting Bindi once she arrives in the states please email me (no phone calls please) and ask for an adoption application. Adoption fee will be $500 which will go towards her vetting costs and transport costs to get her to the USA. We are looking to place Bindi within a 2 hour radius of Washington, DC but can consider other areas if we have a volunteer that can accomplish a home visit. The following areas will work: Northern and Southern VA, east WV, west Delaware, south PA (also Pittsburgh area of PA), North Carolina (some parts) and some parts of SC. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-14-00156Elmer (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Elmer is half Jack Russel and half Corgi. He is extremely cute and loves to play or just lay out and sleep in the backyard. We adopted him when he was 3 months old last year in September. He has a tendency of getting bored easily due to his Russel character, so it is important to keep an array of toys in his reach. He loves the company of other dogs and all humans. We have never seen him get into a fight with another dog or found a human he did not like. He knows basic commands and and a few tricks as well. He gets compliments from people because of his cuteness. He tends to pull on the lead so just remind him you are the boss and he will ... (Read More)stop. He has a tendency to dig a little but he will only do it in one spot. He would much rather relax in the sun in the grass. He loves to sit in your lap and it truly relaxes him. He is up to date on all shots and neutered. All papers on him are with us. Please contact me for more info or more pictures. His adoption fee is only a $100.00 donation to be sent to the rescue foundation that we adopted him from (PAWS). This will go towards their medical funding. An application form will need to be filled if and when you choose to adopt him and that is all! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Corgi in Maryland
Corgi Dogs can make good pets in Maryland if they match your IifestyIe. The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.

Queen Elizabeth II always owns at least four Welsh Corgis and currently owns five. Corgis will fight to the death to defend their homes and families. Corgis may try to herd people by nipping at their heels. Pembroke Welsh Corgis have an almost nonexistent tail. The first Welsh Corgi belonging to Queen Elizabeth II was named Susan.
