Rescue Me ID: 17-09-18-00179Joey (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Have you ever wished you could adopt a real life Snoopy? If so Joey just may be your guy.... Joey is an adorable little 25lb, 4 year old basset hound mix.He is house trained and loves to follow his human around everywhere. He is super smart and is eager to learn. He is highly motivated by food (a very good thing for training!) and is working hard at becoming all he can be! In the home he has an easy going personality and gets along with other dogs. He would actually prefer a home with another dog since he doesn't like to be home alone without a buddy. He is a complete sweetheart according to his foster and LOVES to cuddle. He is not a huge ... (Read More)fan of cats but could likely coexist with a dog savvy one. Joey was originally raised in a country setting, so the city life has been proven tough to adjust to. Mostly, Joey struggles emotionally while on a leash. He is fine off lead and does well outside in a fenced in yard but being on leash causes him to nearly panic and become fearful of other dogs. In the suburbs hebis great though. He just needs a patient home who will work with anxiety. Joey would do best in a home with another dog. Want to adopt a FWFP pup? Fill out our online adoption application by visiting our website: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html **Please note that our dogs may be located in foster homes around NJ and the NYC area. It would be a great help to us if you can pick up your dog from transport, which is centrally located from Northern NJ and NYC, or foster home.** **PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN YOUR INQUIRY** We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them. Please do not submit an inquiry if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $475. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where it is kept for a minimum of 2 weeks for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. After the 2 week quarantine time they are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. They are then placed on the website. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested in it, we make arrangements with the waiting foster to pick the animal up from the airport to then meet with the potential adopter. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option! (Less)

The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.
