Rescue Me ID: 15-12-12-00248Gizmo (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered

This is Gizmo. He is a small mix breed found with his brother as a puppy, they were tossed from a moving vehicle in a cardboard box, and brought to us. Our home is a temporary arrangment as we have a home business that is not suitable for pets. He is a sweet boy, loves attention, lots of room to run, eats well, and is in good health. He is in desperate need of training and with some encouragement, I think he would make an excellent indoor or outdoor dog. I think he would do well if he was adopted with his brother, but also well on his own, as his brother tends to be dominant acting over Gizmo at times. An experienced dog owner could keep ... If you are looking for a loving companion, this little guy is a real sweetie who loves to have his belly rubbed and craves lots of attention. (Less)

Animal ID: 1616Charlie (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Imagine being given up by the only home you've ever known! That's what happened to 5-year-old Charlie when his owner no longer had time for him, so it's no wonder that he arrived in foster care depressed and terrified. His foster family has had to work hard to show this 25-lb. Corgi/Rat Terrier mix that most people can be trusted and that there is still fun in this world. Not surprisingly, the healing of Charlie's broken heart is a work in progress, and he still has some fears left from his trauma. He absolutely hates crates, but his foster family is working with him to slowly desensitize him. Fortunately he is house trained and will sit ... (Read More)quietly by the door when he has to go out. Charlie is insecure around very assertive male dogs and he would be happiest with a female canine companion or a small and easy-going male, or would do well as an only dog. He is both scared and intrigued by cats to the point of making himself a pest to the family's dog-savvy cat, so a 'feline-free' home would be best. Lack of trust also makes Charlie fearful and unpredictable when he is confronted with sudden loud noises, commotion, or grabby hands, so he needs an adoptive home without young children (under 12 years old), and all family members need to be dog-savvy and respectful while he learns that he is safe in his home and defensive maneuvers are unnecessary. Despite the sad turn of events in his life, Charlie has a personality that will endear him to the calm and patient person who is ready to give him the real forever home he deserves. With a leash on, he becomes a different dog entirely, full of confidence and wagging his tail! He LOVES to take walks, and long quiet walks on leash will provide him with just the therapeutic experience he needs to bond with his new person. He also loves to ride in a car and is a perfect gentleman when he's out in public. He even went with his foster mom to work and spent nearly an hour soaking up all the attention and petting from complete strangers. He was shy but full of tail wags. Charlie loves to talk and will carry on a grumbling conversation with you about nearly any topic. He just needs to know that forever really means forever this time. If you are of a similar opinion and are willing to earn his trust, you will have a faithful and loyal companion for life. Animal ID: DF1507014Elsa (female)

Corgi Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Mange (Demodectic)

Poor Elsa is a sweet Female Terrier mix that was spotted at the local County dog pound in pain and scared. She did not want to come to me at first but realized we were there to help her. Most of her skin was raw from her mange, and her claws were so long she could barely walk. After a quick run the the vet and a skin scraping, it was determined she had Demodectic (red) mange, which is non-contagious. A soothing medicated bath, some treats and a nice soft bed was all it took for her to realize she was in good hands. She is approx. 9 months old, heart worm negative, up to date on all her vaccinations, and will be spayed before being adopted. ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Corgi in North Carolina
Corgi Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.
