Miller was found in the middle of the road about a year and a half ago. She was hit by a car and left. We took her to an emergency vet where she was given 20% chance to survive. Thousands of vet fees later, she is a happy and healthy puppy. She is still living with me, as I am extremely picky about where she goes to live. She is used to a back yard. She does not need to be around any other pets, as she can be very easily upset after her abuse.

Animal ID: 1616Charlie (male)

Corgi Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If Charlie could speak, he'd tell you he's ready to leave the past where it belongs and embrace the future! That's because this 25-lb. 5-year-old Rat Terrier/Corgi mix has learned that most people can still be trusted, even though he lost the only home he'd ever known when his owner no longer had time for him. Charlie and his foster family have worked hard to heal his broken heart and now he spends his days making up for lost time! Charlie has a funny personality and the goofy energy of a young pup, and in fact he does love to speak--in an endearing grumble in which he'll converse with you on any topic. He also loves to 'help' with many ... (Read More)household chores (dinner and laundry are his favorites), 'ask' for a walk or car ride (he's a master at leash walking and LOVES to go anywhere!), chew on a bone, patrol the backyard, or partake of his newest pastime--playing with his canine foster sisters! When he's had his fill of fun, he'll likely be found snoring on your lap or next to you on the couch. While day-to-day activities are a breeze for him, a few situations can make Charlie fearful. For one, crates can be frightening, but his foster family has worked with him to desensitize him to a crate. He now happily eats meals in one and will go in for a treat and wait patiently to be let him out when he's finished. Nevertheless, he can panic when crated if he can't see a person or another dog, so he can't be left in a crate during the day at this point in his training. (Fortunately he's house trained and trustworthy when left home alone.) Charlie is also insecure around large, assertive male dogs, yet having a canine companion helps him learn the rules of the home while providing him with a playmate, so he'd be happiest with a female or a smaller, easy-going male dog. Cats intrigue him so much that he makes himself a pest to even the most dog-savvy felines; a home without one is likely best, though he is slowly learning his manners around kitties. He's also improving his manners around children, but sudden loud noises, commotion, or grabby hands can sometimes cause him to panic; a home without children under age 12 would be best for him. Are you dog savvy? Can you see a spunky, talkative guy in your future? Then Charlie's ready for your embrace! He just needs to know that forever really means forever this time. If you're of a similar opinion and willing to earn his trust, you'll have the most faithful and loyal companion ever! To see more photos of Charlie, check out his photo album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/charlie1 .========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Charlie, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Animal ID: DF1507014Elsa (female)

Corgi Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Mange (Demodectic)

Poor Elsa is a sweet Female Terrier mix that was spotted at the local County dog pound in pain and scared. She did not want to come to me at first but realized we were there to help her. Most of her skin was raw from her mange, and her claws were so long she could barely walk. After a quick run the the vet and a skin scraping, it was determined she had Demodectic (red) mange, which is non-contagious. A soothing medicated bath, some treats and a nice soft bed was all it took for her to realize she was in good hands. She is approx. 9 months old, heart worm negative, up to date on all her vaccinations, and will be spayed before being adopted. ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Corgi in North Carolina
Corgi Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.
