I have been contacted by many people from all over the US, which surprised me, but definetely a concentration from Vermont & Maine. A number of people truly looking for work dogs for cattle & dairy farms, which I thought was very cool. Many people looking for companionship for their solo dog or companionship for themselves with a special fondness for the breed. I think I spoke or emailed with probably about 25 to 30 people.
Abe was born on a vermont farm and lived all of his 9 years on a vermont farm, so I must admit I wasn't as interested in the city dwellers for Abe as folks that live in the country. Also Abe is somewhat special. I believe Abe has some learning disabilities, because of possible oxygen deprivation in birth. We have worked hard with Abe and he's trained up quite well, but it takes a special sort of person to work with Abe, he is unusually sweet natured and quite sensitive, and in my opinion could be easily destroyed.
Finally, a midst many Abe inquiries appeared Don Paxson, a special needs child therapist, with a 14 year old corgi named Tigger, and a beautiful wife and 2 daughters, all very loving with lots of attention for Abe.
This seemed like the perfect scenario for our Abe.
Abe was adopted a week ago and we have been in almost daily communication with Don.
We will see Abe in 2 weeks to check on him and his new family.
Thank You so much Jeff for this great website, and the work that you do.
