Rescue Me ID: 14-11-20-00125Ein (male)

Corgi    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ein is one of the most loving, smart and friendly dogs I know. We love our dog dearly but our older dog and Ein don't go well together. Ein has some underlaying aggression/dominance and possessive issue's which can be fixed with private training (he is very smart and will pick up on training easy) The reason we have to give up our dog is that we have a baby on the way and we fear with the problems Ein has our child would not be safe. People interested in our dog have to understand that we raised him in an environment were we where always consistent with rules, feeding time, play and walks. we take our dogs on a walk 3 times a day and drain ... (Read More)their energy in the morning. The have strict rules but we provided everything for our dogs to be happy and healthy. Although we went to numerous trainings and give our dogs everything they need, still Ein has a problem which we are not able to fix. It might have been something we triggered along the way or something in his character. In our current situation, with our first child on the way, we can no longer provide the guidance that he needs. We are searching for someone who want to take him and can help our dog with private sessions. Ein needs some work but again is a wonderful dog, he love cuddling, is very gentle and sweet 80% of the time, just the 20% we cannot handle. I feel that we don't have the right tools at the moment for our dog. If you want more information, please contact me. This dog wont go away with just anyone. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Corgi in Canada
Corgi Dogs can make good pets in Canada if they match your IifestyIe. The Welsh Corgi comprises two distinct breeds, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is the larger of the two, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is more common. Welsh Corgis are some of the healthiest herding dogs out there. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, devoted, and obedient dogs. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are great with good children. Corgis are good guard dogs and can become overprotective unless they are thoroughly socialized as puppies. Corgis are active and energetic and need to be taken on long walks. Corgis can adapt well to apartment life with enough daily exercise.
